Tallen Tasks Justice System On Pending Cases Of VAWG

As part of the activities in line to mark the 2022 International Day for National Human Rights, the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, has called on the Justice system to urgently address the pending cases of violence against women and girls.    
 
The minister stated this on Wednesday at the NHRC/Civil Society forum in Abuja.

She also called on relevant stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians not to relent in sensitizing the public on the danger in violence against women and girl child. 

For his part, the Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, (NHRC), Tony Ojukwu reiterated the commission’s commitment to protect promote the human rights of all persons living in Nigeria.

Ojukwu, the forum is aimed to instigate a major role for the Commission to work provide a mechanism that will address the issue of violation of human rights in the country. 

According to him, at this critical time there is need to engage with stakeholders, CSOs various fields of human rights to ensure development frameworks are achieve at the community level.

The theme for the 2022 International Day for Human Rights; Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All.
