Taraba Assembly Staff Begin Indefinite Strike Over Unpaid Allowances

The staff of the Taraba State House of Assembly have announced the commencement of an indefinite strike over non-payment of seven years allowances.

The staff who made the announcement under the umbrella body of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria said the strike begins on Monday.

The association made it known in a circular dated November 7, 2022, and signed by Comrade Ibrahim Yusuf and Comrade Yahuda Atwen, the chairman and secretary respectively.

According to the statement, the association had given the Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku seven days ultimatum but the outstanding allowances were not paid.

The association added that the expiration of the ultimatum given necessitated the indefinite strike action.

The association further directed its members to remain at home until their demands have been met.

In another development, the Taraba State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities has threatened to go on strike following quarter salary payments by the state government.
