The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has felicitated Nigerians on the occasion of the 63rd Independence Day celebration.
The Governor recognized the need for reflection on the country's journey since gaining independence from Britain.
Kefas also emphasized the strength of Nigeria's diversity, highlighting the talent and innovation of its young population in various fields, such as entertainment, technology, sports, and business.
The Governor made this known in his speech on Sunday morning in Jalingo, the state's capital.
He further urged for the promotion of unity among Nigerians to overcome the country's current challenges.
"My fellow Compatriots, I join you all in the celebration of this year's Independence Anniversary of our dear Country, Nigeria.
"It is six decades and three years since we gained Independence, and the tag 'Sovereign Nation-state' from Britain.
"I know there are mixed reactions as to what we are celebrating at 63 but I must tell you that we have a lot to celebrate as well as a lot to do.
"Nigerians are great People, and our Country is one of the most blessed Societies in the World.
"Our diversity remains our strength; our young People the treasure that can't be abandoned when we talk of innovation and talents anywhere in the World.
"From Entertainment to Tech, Sports to Businesses; we are always at the forefront of unprecedented feats.
"Today, Nigeria is battling with surmountable menaces and it is with the cooperation of all Nigerians that we will triumph.
"Our future as a Nation-state is bright and prosperous, yes!
'We will get there but let us keep supporting our Leaders.
"My dear Tarabans, let me use the Occasion to speak to you.
"I am ever committed to partnering with everyone who is ready; to make Taraba State better and safer, for all.
"As we work to keep moving forward, let us remember to be our Brother's keeper.
"I wish you a Happy 63rd Independence Anniversary," the governor said.
