Taraba: Mob sets armed robber who fatally stab POS operator

An accused armed robber who killed a POS operator in Taraba State by stabbing him to death has been set on fire. 

The victim was eighteen years old and it was revealed that the incident, which took place on Monday, happened close to Wukari Local Government Area's yam market.

Allnews.ng gathered that the victim of the incident at her store was allegedly getting ready for her National Examination Council, NECO, exams.

According to council sources who talked with reporters, the suspect went inside the girl's shop pretending to withdraw money.

“On approaching her shop, the suspect, who could not succeed in stealing money, ended up stabbing her, which resulted in her death.”

The suspect would have managed to get away, but the young people pursued him and lit him on fire, according to a second source who talked to a Daily Post reporter under the condition of anonymity.

Ismaila Dauda, the head of the local government council, gave our reporter confirmation of the occurrence.

“It is true that one young man went into a POS operator’s shop and stabbed her to death on Monday, June 17th, 2024, in Wukari town.”

He added, “The suspect was pursued, caught, and lynched to death by hoodlums.”

“It’s a sad incident. The young girl of 18 came to prepare for NECO exams and unfortunately met her untimely death,” the chairman lamented.

The development was being looked into by security services at the time this article was filed.

Through Gambo Kwache, the state police command's acting public relations officer, PPRO, the incidence was also verified by the Daily Post.

"The suspect who stabbed the POS operator on her neck was lynched by the youths who went after him," stated the Acting PPRO.
