Taraba Police Arrest 11 Kidnapping Suspects, Recover 7 AK-47

The operatives of the Taraba State Police Command have arrested a total of 11 notorious kidnapping suspects in Taraba State.

The suspects were arrested for their parts in the kidnapping incidents that included the kidnapping of serving personnel of the Nigeria Customs Service, a family of the Emir of Jalingo and the killing of a Police Sergeant in Jalingo, Taraba State.

CP Frank Mba, the Force Public Relations Officer said this in a statement today, Sunday.

“The Police team recovered 7 AK47 rifles, 2 pistols, 121 rounds of ammunition of different calibre in the raids of suspects in the state."

“The arrests of the suspects follows the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba and the efforts of the Taraba State Police Command in containing the trend of violent crimes in the state."

He added that investigations revealed that the suspects are members of a kidnap group and have been linked to the recent kidnappings in the State.

It is said that the suspects masterminded the killing of a Police Sergeant and left another with gunshot injuries in an operation.

All the arrested suspects will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
