TASUED: Ogun Government Orders Investigation Into Student's

The Ogun State Government has ordered an investigation into the killing of a 300 level student of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun.

This comes as part of the reaction of the state government to the development.

The government’s reaction is coming barely one week after the management of the university had ordered the closure of the school for peace to reign.

The male TASUED student was reportedly murdered by some students suspected to be security guards from Imawaje, a neighbouring community to the university.

Angered by the death of their colleague, some of the aggrieved students set the houses of the Baale and three others on fire.

In a statement on Sunday, the Ogun government assured students of TASUED that those responsible for the killing of their colleague will not go unpunished.

According to the statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Waheed Adesina, the state government condemned the dastardly act while disclosing that the police have been instructed to invite all concerned, including the Baale of Imaweje, to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the student’s death.

“The state government strongly condemned the killing of the student, saying it was one death too many.

"No one has the right to take the law into their own hands, and every action necessary would be taken to punish all those involved,” it was said.

Meanwhile, the government appealed to the students to remain peaceful and law-abiding, while waiting for the outcome of the police investigation.

"Such incidents will not be allowed to happen again anywhere in the state.”
