TCRN Inducts 90 UNICAL Graduates

The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has certified no fewer than 90 teachers trained at the Institute of Education of the University of Calabar (UNICAL), Cross River.

The Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of TRCN,  Prof. Josiah Olusegun, at the induction advised the teachers to be professional in carrying out their duties, warning to sanction those who fail to obey the rules and ethics of the profession.

Olusego also thanked the institution for honouring the council.

The Vice-Chancellor of UNICAL, Prof. Florence Obi, also charged the inductees to be devoted to their job.

Obi who was represented by the university’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Eno Nta, restated the institution's commitment to producing professionals in different fields. 

“I congratulate you for the hard work, but more importantly, I demand commitment from you all.

“It is not about the paper qualification, it is the commitment to your profession.

“Be our ambassadors. Do not disappoint us. Go and blaze forth and let the world know that something good is happening at the University of Calabar,” she said.

Obi further appreciated the management of the institute and the lecturers for working hard towards the development of the inducted teachers.

Responding, Prof. Paul Itari, Director of the Institute of Education, UNICAL, said the professional training of teachers would bring about improvement in the quality of education.

Itari said induction is an important academic tradition that would initiate graduates into their chosen fields.

 Miss Nene Williams-Amos who spoke on behalf of the inductees commended the university's management and lecturers for the proper training they were given.
