Samsung Launches TV Plus Streaming Service On Web

Samsung has launched a web version of its free and ad-supported Smart TV Plus streaming service for live and linear programming as well as added casting support for Chromecast device on Friday.

Stellantis EV Day 2021: Jeep To Reveal 'Fully Electric 4xe' Model

Jeep has announced that it will offer a "zero-emission, fully electric" 4xe model in every category of its SUV lineup by 2025.

TikTok To Automate Video Removals For Contents That Violate Its Policies

TikTok has announced on Friday that it will use automation to detect and remove many of the videos that violate its policies. The service has been testing and tweaking systems to find and take down such content for the past years. It will roll out those systems in the US and Canada over the next few weeks.

The algorithms are expected to be on the lookout for posts that violate policies related to the safety of minors, violence, graphic content, nudity, sex, illegal activity and regulated goods. If the systems detect a violation, they'll yank the video immediately and the user who posted it can appeal. Users can still flag videos for manual review as well. Read more here.

Microsoft Gifts Employees $1,500 Pandemic Bonus

The Redmond tech giant, Microsoft has released an internal memo that states that it is gifting its employees a one-time bonus of $1,500 pandemic. The one-time bonus “is in recognition of the unique and challenging fiscal year that Microsoft just completed.”

Microsoft’s chief people officer, Kathleen Hogan, made the announcement on Thursday, and it will apply to all eligible employees in both the US and internationally. Microsoft is gifting this bonus to all staff below the corporate vice president level that started on or before March 31, 2021, including part-time workers and those on hourly rates. Read more here.

Astronauts Demonstrate First Successful CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing Work In Space

Astronauts Christina Koch and scientists have successfully demonstrated CRISPR-Cas9 in space for the first time, using it as part of a new technique to damage DNA and study how it repairs in microgravity.

According to the researchers, "Technical and safety concerns" had prevented earlier studies. But now, CRISPR gene editing is no longer confined to Earth. Read more here.
