Techno Oil Officially Obtains ISO Certification For Quality

A wholly-owned Nigerian integrated energy company, Techno Oil Ltd has received the ISO 9001:2015 certification for its quality management system.

The certification was officially presented to Nkechi Obi, the CEO of Techno Oil Ltd., on Tuesday in Lagos by Malam Farouk Salim, the Director-General of the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON).

Mr Felix Nyado, Director, Management Systems Certification, SON presenting the ISO 9001:2015 certificate of quality management system to Mrs Nkechi Obi, Chief Executive Officer, Techno Oil Ltd. on Tuesday in Lagos.

According to Obi, the award was given because the company's quality management system complied with the standards of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

She claimed that the recognition came after the system had undergone a rigorous certification review by auditors for nearly two years, during which time it was determined that it complied with international standards.

“The ISO award is a sign of our commitment to how we will go about our business with the best practices.

“We will continue to implement every step that has been outlined to us.  It is a way of life for us and we will continue to improve and abide by the principles of ISO in our operations, “Obi added.

Salim, who was represented by Felix Nyado, Director, Management Systems Certification, SON, claimed that by accomplishing the feat, the business had joined an exclusive group of Quality Management System certified organisations in Nigeria.

“This milestone achievement in the pursuit of service excellence is highly commendable and worthy of emulation by all oil and gas, energy, infrastructure and manufacturing companies in Nigeria.

“As I join other Nigerians to congratulate you on this milestone achievement, permit me to remind you that the petroleum industry is the hub of the development of Nigeria’s economy and needs to be sustained if the country is to achieve real economic growth and create new jobs.

“Adoption of the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system framework reflects your vision to deliver quality products to your customers at all times.

"I am confident that this focus on the production of quality products will also strengthen your relationship with stakeholders.”

Salim pointed out that the certificate had a three-year term and would be subject to annual evaluation.

According to him, the corporation must work to comply with all the established procedures in order to prevent its withdrawal.

“I am aware that your products such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas cylinders and lubricants are under our Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) and today you are being presented a certificate of conformity to ISO 9001:2015.

“You will agree with me that your biggest challenge in this endless journey to excellence will be to consistently direct your efforts towards meeting customer requirements to enhance their satisfaction.

"I am sure that this certification to ISO 9001: 2015 will be a launching pad for your organisation,” Salim said.

The ISO 9001: 2015 is described as the international standard that outlines standards for a quality management system (QMS).

Most businesses utilise the standard to show they have the capacity to consistently deliver goods and services that satisfy consumer and legal requirements.

In addition to the aforementioned, ISO 9001:2015 also outlines what is needed for a quality system when an organisation wants to improve customer satisfaction by using the system effectively.

These include procedures for system enhancement and the confirmation of compliance with client and relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
