Spotify Suspends Office In Russia Indefinitely, Removes RT, Sputnik Content

The streaming platform, Spotify has shut down its Moscow operations indefinitely in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last week.

Spotify opened a representative office in Moscow last month after a new Russian law required foreign tech companies with an audience of over 500,000 users to establish an office in the nation by 2022. Read more here.

Airtel Announces Free Calls To Support Nigerian Families, Friends In Ukraine

Airtel Nigeria has announced that it will support its customers to make free calls to war-ravaged Ukraine to reach their friends and families there.

Airtel Chief Executive Officer, Surendran Chemmenkotil, stated on Friday in Lagos that the free call service to Ukraine was subject to the company’s fair usage policy. Read more here.

Netflix Acquires Next Game, Creator Of ‘Stranger Things' Mobile Game

Streaming company Netflix announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Next Games, the Finnish mobile game developer that has already made an RPG based on 'Stranger Things'. 

The acquisition will see Netflix hand over around €65 million (around $72 million), with all of the paperwork expected to be finalised by the summer. Read more here.

Google News Initiative Announces Third Innovation Challenge

The Google News Initiative (GNI) on Wednesday announced the opening of the third Innovation Challenge for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa, with each selected innovation project eligible for $150,000 in funding.
