Telegram introduces business features to compete with WhatsA

Telegram, a messaging app, has introduced new features geared towards businesses, enabling users to convert their accounts into business profiles.

The recent expansion into the business communication realm offers a notable contrast to WhatsApp Business, a similar platform provided by WhatsApp.

These features are designed to streamline communication with customers.

Among the enhancements, businesses can now display their operating hours and location on a map within their profile, providing convenient access to essential information.

Additionally, they can customize their start page, showcase products and services, and utilize preset messages for quick replies. However, these features are only available to users with Telegram Premium accounts.

In further development, Telegram announced a revenue-sharing initiative for channel owners, offering them 50 per cent of ad revenue from channels with at least 1,000 subscribers.

This initiative underscores Telegram's financial stability, with founder Pavel Durov expressing optimism about future profitability and hinting at potential initial public offering (IPO) plans.

While WhatsApp Business remains a prominent choice for businesses, Telegram's recent developments offer an intriguing alternative, particularly for those seeking greater customization and potential revenue opportunities.
