Telegram Launches Voice Chat 2.0 To Rival Clubhouse

Popular social medic service, Telegram has launched a Clubhouse-like feature called Voice Chat 2.0 that lets users conduct live voice sessions with unlimited participants.

The new features contain other features like the ability to record voice chats, hand raising mechanism, invitational links and voice-chat titles. The update comes in wake of the popularity of voice-only messaging services like Clubhouse and Twitter spaces.

Voice Chat 2.0 also lets users cancel forwarding messages, replace recipients and listen to voice messages firm where the users left off.

Telegram announced over the weekend in a blog post that a host of features essentially mirror what Clubhouse provides. Admins of channels and public groups can conduct voice calls with unlimited live participants.

The company had earlier launched these features only for group chat where admins can record the voice calls to share with participants of the group/channel who may have missed the live voice call session. And participants will know when calls are being recorded with a red light next to the name of the voice call.

The admins have the discretion to select which listener can participate by viewing the bio of the listener. Participants remain mute and can only make signs to show the admin that they are interested in speaking in the voice chat.

. Telegram allows group and channel admins to create links that will help participants to directly join the voice call. Alongside, admins can create separate links for speakers and listeners to monitor who is speaking in the call. The app also allows celebrities to maintain their privacy by allowing them to join a call using the name of their channel on Telegram.

Telegram users can now also cancel forwarding a message, or replace the recipient before it gets sent. Users can now also listen to voice messages from wherever they left them before. This feature was only limited to long audio and video tracks before.

Swiping left on Telegram chats is now a customisable gesture for Android users. Users can choose between actions like archiving chats, pinning, muting, deleting, or marking them as read. On Telegram for iOS, these swipe actions are always available, depending on which way users’ swipe.
