Tems, Burna Boy Debut At Met Gala 2023

Nigerian Afrobeats sensations Burna Boy and Tems made their debut appearance at the prestigious Met Gala in New York City on Monday, marking the first time Nigerian stars have attended the iconic fashion event.

The duo turned heads on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the theme for 2023 was ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ in honour of the late fashion designer who frequently attended the event.

Burna Boy donned a matching black and blue slightly checkered outfit with a cape-like extension flowing behind him.

Meanwhile, Tems made a fashion statement with a custom Rober Wun dress, which included a black corset-like top, a flowing regal white finishing at the bottom, and elbow-length gloves, styled by Dunsin Wright.

Speaking to ESSENCE, Tems expressed excitement about her Met Gala debut, exclaiming; “Oh my goodness! I have never done it [Met Gala] before. So, I’m so excited. It’s my first time. It’s going to be lit!”
