Ten Beauty Products For Women Invented By Men

Beauty has always been valued throughout history. It requires a lot of time, effort, and imagination for a lady to appear magnificent for any event in the past.

We now live in a magnificent age of incredible beauty technologies that make our lives simpler, but have you ever wondered who was behind their creation?

Let us look at ten beauty products for women invented by men.

1. Curling Iron

Although Hiram Maxim invented it in 1866, it gained popularity in 1872 when Marcele Grateau produced the "Marcelle curl"; he also designed his iron in 1890.

Because controlling the temperature of the iron was difficult, hairdressers would normally test it on a piece of paper before putting it on someone's hair.

2. Bikini

Louis Réard, an automobile engineer and apparel designer, invented the first bikini in 1946.

He saw that women frequently pull up the corners of their swimsuits to achieve a better tan, which motivated him to create a two-piece design that exposes the stomach.

3. Liquid Foundation

Women initially used foundation in Ancient Egypt in the form of a white powder or paste, but the modern foundation was invented by Carl Baudin of the "Leipziger Stadt" theatre in Germany.

He wanted to hide the gap between his wig and his brow, so he concocted a skin-coloured paste out of zinc, ochre, and fat.

This paint was so popular among other performers that he began selling it commercially until Max Factor invented "Flexible Greasepaint" in 1914.

4. Lip Balm

Dr Charles Browne Fleet invented this homemade product in the 1880s, although it was not particularly popular at the time.

It had the appearance of a little candle covered in foil. Yes, I would not purchase it either.

5. Artificial Nails

They were created by a dentist who accidentally broke one of his nails while working and tried to replace it with a fake one.

His name was Fred Slack. Fake nails became widely popular during the 20th century.

6. Thongs

People were wearing thongs long before the twenty-first century, believe it or not.

Historians say they descended from African tribes living in warmer regions.

However, Rudi Gernreich created the current version of this article of clothing in reaction to the Los Angeles City Council's prohibition on nude sunbathing.

7. Hair Straightener

Simon E. Monroe developed this invention in 1906, and it looked like a metal comb but a few years later Issac K. Shero created another, composed of two hot irons that are fitted together around the hair.

8. Bobby Pins

This is something that you always need and borrow but eventually end up losing.

Bobby pins are also invented by a man, called Luis Marcus.

First, they were handmade and they became popular in the 1950s when ’’bobbed hair’’ ok hold, thus the name bobby pins.

9. Mascara

For centuries, women applied different homemade products on their eyelashes to make them thicker and darker.

The first commercialized mascara was made in the 19th century by Eugène Rimmel.

It was made from petroleum jelly.

10. Sanitary Napkins (pads)

The invention of sanitary pads is credited to none other than Benjamin Franklin.

His innovation was designed to stop bleeding in injured troops but it was also used as inspiration for Johnson & Johnson's first commercial disposable napkins, which were introduced in 1888. Thank you very much, Mr Franklin!
