A police officer has died while others sustained injuries after an attack by the Islamic State of the West African Province (ISWAP), in Auno, Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State was repelled in the early hours of Monday.

It was revealed that the terrorists came in large numbers, attacked a checkpoint of the policemen of the crack team at about 0100 hours and shot sporadically.

A counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in Lake Chad, Zagazola Makama, disclosed that he was told by intelligence sources that two of the policemen on duty engaged the terrorists in a gun duel and one of them was killed in the process.

Makama said when he heard the sound of gunshots, other personnel rushed to the scene and joined in the battle, compelling the terrorists to retreat.
