The Chronicles Of Nigerian Celebrities In Love (Photos)

The Chronicles Of Nigerian Celebrities In Love (Photos)

Relationships, for those who are into one, is beyond the good morning and good night text messages. The journey through relationships, courtship, and finally down to marriage may seem rosy to the casual observer, but it is a path full of hitches and different learning curves. While some have weathered the storm to the admiration of all, others have fallen along the way like a pack of cards.

All couples, regardless of their social status, background,  educational standards are bound to pass through the rough patches in their love journey. Still, their ability to manage those moments is what makes them a couple.

Making a marriage work through thick and thin takes a lot of effort, most notably for celebrities, as the pressure may be higher than those of others.

Their fans and others follow their everyday story, like flies flock around feces.

Some celebrity couples, despite social media dramas and gossips, have still kept their love alive while dishing out couple goals for their followers. It doesn't matter how long they have been together, how much struggles or scandals they have found themselves in, there's always a lesson to learn from their marriage.

Allnews compiles photos and stories of happily married couples in Nigerian showbiz.

1. Joke Silva and Olu Jacobs

Their marriage is enviable as their love has been able to stand the test of time, despite the belief that celebrity marriages do not last.

58-year-old Silva and 77-year-old Jacobs have both been in the movie industry for more than two decades and have been married for about 35 years.

In one of her interviews with PremiumTimes, dug up by this platform, the actress opened up on how she dealt with storms in her marriage and how she had thought of giving up.

"When storms came, it was also a learning curve for both sides (my husband and I), we both had to learn to forgive each other. I learnt that marriage is not a destination; it's a continuous journey."

2. Soni and Betty Irabor

The union of Betty, a Nigerian writer and Soni Irabor, an award-winning media icon, is an admirable one after having spent about 37 years together as husband and wife.

Of course, there have been ups and downs in their marriage as claimed by Soni during their 25th marriage anniversary, but their ability to weather the storms is what defines their union.

Back in July 29, 2018, when they celebrated their 35 years anniversary, shared a toast to all changing scenes of their life.

Soni also admitted that "through thick and thin we have grown and we thank God for grace and love."

From the years spent together, one can boldly say that all it takes for a marriage to work out is to embrace each other's imperfections while working towards perfection.

3. Tunde and Wumi Obe

Another outstanding couple the Nigerian showbiz has produced is Tunde and Wumi Obe, who are entertainers and television personalities, professionally known as T.W.O.

Wunmi whose maiden name is Aboderin met Tunde Obe while an undergraduate at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) in 1988 where she was pursuing a degree in Philosophy.

She met him when she officially joined the UNILAG band, Turning Point, in which Tunde was already the lead singer, after which they became friends.

T.W.O got married in 1998 and are blessed with three children, Modesayo, Ricardo and Andre.

They love the quiet and private lifestyle and are usually not present on the social scene, which is somewhat a good idea in avoiding dramas and scandals.

4. Richard and Jumobi Mofe Damijo

Nollywood Actor, RMD Celebrates 19 Years Wedding Anniversary With ...
The union of Nollywood star, Richard Mofe-Damijo and Jumobi, a former presenter at Africa Independent (A.I.T.) Television is arguably a dream come true.

Jumobi known to have had the desire to be known as Mrs. Mofe Damijo, had it come true when her beau proposed to her shortly after the demise of his first wife, May Ellen Ezekiel, in 1996.

In December 2019, they had their 19th wedding anniversary, and the popular actor confessed that the secret behind his smiles was his marriage to the former O.A.P.

5. Tuface and Annie Idibia

Their love journey began while Annie was just 15. In 2012, they got married in Dubai, a wedding which caught attention of many of their fans.

However, as rosy as their marriage may now seem, they have in the past had turbulent times, as 2face, during his on and off relationship got two women pregnant.

Annie has two children for 2face while he has five from the other women.

His video African Queen which saw Annie make appearances is the first video to be aired on MTV Base Africa.

6. Nobert and Gloria Young

Despite early criticisms about their union, Norbert and Gloria Anozie-Young have been together for over 15 years and blessed with three kids.

The union has stood the test of time in spite of the accusation by a colleague in the industry that she snatched Nobert from her. Despite that, their love has continued to wax stronger.

7. Timi and Busola Dakolo

Nigerian gospel singer, Timi Dakolo and celebrity photographer, Busola met at the House on the Rock church.

The first meeting was an interesting one such that Timi introduced himself, and like every other Nigerian lady, she asked: "So what?"

The singer asked for her phone number, which she gave, but it turned out to be a dummy one.

However, Timi did not give up on the photographer who gave excuses for the wrong number.

Sometime in 2012, Timi had gone to visit his beloved and put a ring on an empty plate. That was what he served instead of breakfast in bed, which he had promised to bring Busola.

Timi brought a covered dish to the room where she was expecting pasta. And under the napkin was a ring that incredibly surprised and pleased her!

The couple later got married and currently has three kids (1 boy and 2 girls).

All of them were born in just 4 years!

8. Afeez Owo and Mide Martins

The famous faces in the Yoruba movie industry have been together for over 18 years and blessed with 2 girls.

While Mide was growing up, Afeez was known to be the manager to her late mother, Funmi Martins, who died in 2002 after a brief illness.

When the actress' mother died, Afeez was the only person that stood by her and that led to their love story.

Their marriage faced a tough time in 2016, after she alleged that her husband neglected her and their children.

But addressing that in an interview in 2018, Afeez said "There will always be challenges in a home but it depends on how you handle them. Friends nearly ruined our marriage; my wife was wrongly advised. As we speak, she still regrets all those things she did or said. Couples will always fight, but they don't need to let their neighbours know about it. We've made our mistakes, and we have learnt from it. We don't pray for that anymore."
