The governor of Kaduna state, Malam Nasir El-Rufa'i has kicked against the notion of identifying bandits as repentant.

The governor made the declaration on Tuesday shortly after meeting the president, Muhammadu Buhari.

El-Rufa'i met the president in respect of the killing of about 40 people in the state within the weekend.

Speaking to journalists at the State House, El-Rufa'i kicked against calling repentant bandits.

He said, “There is nothing like repentant terrorists. The only repentant bandit is the one that is dead. Our intention in the state is to kill them (terrorists), let them go and see God.”

He further expressed satisfaction with the court ruling that proscribed bandits as terrorists, adding that it has given the military more strength to fight the terrorists.

The governor in company of his state commissioners for internal security, Samuel Aruwan, said his visit to the president was to request support and deployment of more troops to end active victims of terrorists.

He further stated that the military is aware of the location of the terrorists but are careful of collateral damage which might affect civilian casualties.

El-Rufa'i further urged security operatives to be aggressive in tackling the terrorists.
