There's No Need To Pit Women Against Each Other — Simi [Vi

Songstress Simi has stated that there is no need to constantly pit women against each other because everyone is only trying to eat and win.

She said this after she was honoured as the first female artiste to hit over 100 million plays on the music streaming platform Audiomack.

In a video posted on Audiomack Africa's Instagram page, Simi said she hopes that the success of herself and other phenomenal women in the music industry will inspire women that they can fight ad get anything they want.

The 'Duduke' hitmaker added that although bigwigs in the industry are starting to give more opportunities, there's still a lot of work to be done.

She mentioned that there is absolutely no need to constantly pitch women against each other as everyone only wants to eat and win.

“Having over 100 million global streams on Audiomack is just incredibly fascinating to me because it means there are hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people that decided to stream my songs over 100 million times and that's mindblowing,” Simi began.

“I just always am so grateful to have such consistent and loyal fans and I do not take it for granted.

"I hope that the success that I and all the phenomenal women in this music industry have attained is able to inspire and show women that they can fight for and get anything that they want.

“We've come a long way, we have more people in the industry that are beginning to give more women opportunities and present them a larger platform.

“There's more crossover of female artistes and I think it's amazing. But there's still definitely a lot more work to do.

"There's no need to constantly pit women against each other. I feel like everyone is just trying to eat and win.”

Audiomack had hosted an exclusive brunch for women in the Nigerian music and entertainment industry at Gaia Africa Club, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The event provided an opportunity for women in the music industry to discuss and share how they are challenging inequality and fostering inclusion within the Nigerian music scene.

Several noteworthy names at the event include singers and songwriters, Simi & Fave; music producers, Saszy & Dunnie, radio gurus Kemi Smallz, Ada Ooh, Taymi B among others who have.
