Three young boys have been detained by the Anambra State Police Command for allegedly gang-raping their next-door neighbour's 13-year-old daughter in Enekwesumpu Nkpor, Idemili North LGA.
The father of the victim is a co-tenant with the accused who have been identified as Sunday, Emelie, Chiedu, and one other who is still at large.
Following a complaint from the victim, they were detained with security personnel from the Anambra Vigilante Group and National Agency For Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) authorities.
After arguing with her father, the victim claimed the suspects brought her to the Nkisi River and raped her.
She claims that they dragged and slapped her to the river, where they gave her instructions to remove her clothes before taking turns to have sex with her.
Two of the suspects confessed to the crime and begged for forgiveness, saying that they had done it because of their conflict with her father.
The third suspect, however, insisted that he was simply present when the incident occurred and did not take part.
He was the second person to have had carnal knowledge of the victim, according to the victim, who refuted his assertion.
