Three Die In Fire That Razed Down 100 Shops In Kano Market

Three persons have been confirmed dead in a deadly fire that destroyed about a hundred shops at Badume vegetable market in Bichi local government area of Kano.

According to a statement by the Kano State Fire Service Spokesperson, Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, the fire is suspected to have begun from a shop at the middle of the popular village market.

He said by the time firefighters got to the scene, three yet to be identified persons; a female and two males including an elderly man with special needs, were trapped in a shop.

The Spokesman further stated that the victims were rescued unconscious and later confirmed dead by health officials.

“All victims rescued unconscious and confirmed dead, handed over the victims to Inspector Mukaila Inusa of Bichi police division.”

He pointed out that about one hundred temporary shops were completely razed while the team successfully quenched the fire to avoid spreading to their parts of the market.

“The cause of the incident is under investigation”, he added.

Saminu Yusif charged the public to use fire and electrical appliances with care to avoid an inferno.
