Three Siblings Arraigned Over Assault On Amotekun

Three Siblings Arraigned Over Assault On Amotekun

Three siblings have been arraigned for allegedly assaulting Amotekun operatives in Ondo State.

The siblings were brought before an Akure magistrate court to face allegations of violence against two agents of the security outfit.

The brothers Mimo, Doyin, and Oloruntosin Ogunmakin are charged with assaulting Oluwasegun Omoloro, an agent of Amotekun, together with one Olaiya Alawoesokan.

According to reports, Omoloro was assaulted by the suspects while going about his work at the Amotekun office in Irele, the state's Irele Local Government Area's administrative centre.

Two counts of conspiracy and one count of assault resulting in injuries to an Amotekun agent were brought against the defendants.

According to the state's attorney, O.F. Akeredolu, the accused planned to unlawfully assault the victim, an Amotekun officer, at his place of employment.

Sections 516A and 355 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. 37, Laws of Ondo State, 2006, according to him, are violated by the offense.

After the defendant pleaded not guilty, Akeredolu requested a postponement so he could get ready for the trial.

The defense attorney, O. Bernard offered to put up reliable sureties and urged the court to impose the fewest restrictions feasible on his client's release on bail.

After Magistrate D. S. Sekoni granted the accused bail in the amount of N200,000 with one guarantee in the same amount, the case was postponed to a hearing on November 26.
