'Dem Mama' was off Timaya's album 'True Story' released in 2007 and was produced by KSolo.

Describing the song in an interview posted in August 2013, Timaya said: "'Dem Mama' was an account of the 1999 destruction of Odi, a riverside community in Niger Delta. Soldiers were hunting down militants they allegedly killed eight policemen. The village was burnt down and numerous people were killed. I bravely tackled the issue years later and won instant street credibility for my boldness."

This song was released in 2009 by Banky W and it went on to become one of the most streamed and trendy love songs of the year.

8. Ego - Djinee

This track is an afro R&B soul song by Djinee from the album 'Westside Bootleg Volume 1' (2006). Although he went on to release other songs such as 'I no dey shame', none of these singles could match the success of his hit song, 'Ego'.

Olu Maintain's single 'Yahooze' was released on October 27, 2007, and produced by Puffy Tee as the lead single from his debut album of the same name. The song was accompanied by a dance move with the same name. Even though the song and dance subtly allude to it,  the dance move came at a time when internet fraud was not so rampant in the country.

'Yahooze' won Hottest Single of the Year at the 2008 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

3. Kolomental - Faze

'Kolomental' was released in 2006 but became a hit song in 2007. It was the lead single off Faze’s sophomore album, 'Independent'. The musical work also happens to be Faze's best-selling album and the biggest (most sold) album of the year 2007.
