All of these were not available in the era our parents grew up (the 90s). The fashion world has made great advancement with many of the styles being changed into different trendy and attractive pieces of work today.
Although, we all share different ideas of what our definition of beauty is, but the 90s was an era when natural beauty was more pervasive.
Despite some, what we will call, "funny-looking" styles, many of our women still looked stunning.
Let's have a throwback to the 90s and see what it was like:
Afro
From the appearance of this, one can tell it was for the big girls then. The style is what people define as the typical old school style.
The fashion world today has modified this style into a stylish fashion that will make you forget the fact that it once existed.
This is a popular hairstyle common to people from the South-Western part of Nigeria (Yoruba’s). It was popular among high-profile personalities in the 1600s, but gradually, it grew in popularity in the 90s and today (school girls mostly).
This is a Yoruba word to describe a threaded hairstyle. This high style is not restricted to any tribe, though, as women from different parts of the country donned it.

This is still in fashion today and will always be. I remember seeing one of my mom's pictures in this style and I couldn’t stop but praise my dad (no shade).

I wonder what their inspiration behind naming a hairstyle was but it’s funny as hell (looking like a fetish priestess), it is still trending today but then it has been styled to fit today's style.
