Other progressives politicians present at the inauguration were former Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, new APC Chieftain in Osun State, Sen. Iyiola Omisore and former National Vice Chairman (Southwest), Chief Pius Akinyelure.
Obaseki was applauded by guests when he arrived at the International Cultural and Event Centre, Akure, the inaugural venue. Obaseki decamped from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2020 governorship election in Edo. His defection followed his disqualification to contest for the governorship position by the APC screening committee for the election. Obaseki later won the election on the platform of the PDP.
