Tunde Rahman, a media advisor to President Bola Tinubu, has questioned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar's background, following the appearance of the strange name on his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) certificate.
The revelation that Sadiq Abubakar, not Atiku Abubakar, is the name on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 presidential flag bearer's WAEC certificate has sparked new political responses.
Following the discovery of the difference, Atiku denied fabricating the certificate on Tuesday.
According to him, he took his WAEC exam under the name Sadiq and then swore in an affidavit that Sadiq Abubakar was the same person as Atiku Abubakar.
“Yes I used Sadiq Abubakar to sit for my WAEC and after passing my exams I went to swear an affidavit to say I am the same person as ATIKU Abubakar.
“I went to ABU as Atiku Abubakar and passed my Exams as Atiku Abubakar. Interviewed as Atiku Abubakar by the Federal Civil Service Commission and hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar. So where is forgery there?’
However, Rahman stated on Tuesday that Atiku is not known as Sadiq and that he must explain how he obtained the WAEC certificate.
Rahman said on the microblogging site X, "The PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, is now cornered!" How did he obtain his WAEC diploma? When did he start calling himself Sadiq?
"How did that name not appear elsewhere throughout his time at Customs? Who recognises him as Sadiq? He must respond. "As they say, what goes around comes around!"
He further urged Atiku to submit the written affidavit on the name discrepancy, as well as clarify the other certificates he possessed, including his diploma and master's certificates.
“Follow-up questions for Atiku Abubakar: where is the affidavit he claimed to have sworn to after passing his exams before he joined Customs?
"Why “after passing the exams” and not before taking the exams? What is the date on the affidavit?
“Atiku also claimed to have done a diploma course at ABU before his Masters. Is it a diploma that he used to do a master’s program?” Rahman stated further.
