Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern States Governors' Forum, NSGF, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice, Kashim Shettima for what he referred to as their purposeful leadership.

The governor acknowledged the support of President Tinubu and Shettima, emphasizing that their leadership has been instrumental towards the recovery and prosperity of the Northeast region.

Governor Yahaya stated this on Wednesday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital during the foundation laying ceremony of the North East Development Commission, NEDC, led by Vice President Shettima.

He also acknowledged the pivotal role played by the NEDC in supporting the six Northeastern states to address critical infrastructure deficits, agricultural intervention, and education among others.

He said: "I stand with immense pride before you today at this momentous foundation laying ceremony of the North East Development Commission's Head Office in Maiduguri.

"Let me say that the NEDC has been playing a critical role in promoting development across our region, addressing critical infrastructure deficits, providing significant intervention in agriculture, education, health care and other sectors in order to foster socio-economic growth.

"Today's events are a testament to the unwavering support the NEDC has been receiving from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, whose leadership has been instrumental in our journey in this sub-region towards recovery and prosperity.

"As we lay this foundation and perform the other functions later, I appeal to all stakeholders to maintain strong support for this commission to ensure that it fully delivers on its statutory mandate of transforming the Northeast."

In a statement on Wednesday by Ismaila Uba Misilli, the governor's spokesperson, the Managing Director of the NEDC, Muhammad Goni Alkali said the construction of the Head Office project was in fulfilment of its constitutional mandate, saying "the project will improve efficiency in the delivery of its statutory mandate."

He also revealed that the commission "will distribute agricultural inputs and equipment such as tractors, tillage, harvesters, and other materials needed by farmers for this year's wet season."

He explained that the item would be shared among the six states in the region, including Bauchi, Gombe, Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Taraba States to boost food production and attain food security in line with President Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
