Reports reaching AllNews from Makurdi, the capital of Benue State, disclosed there is tension currently in Northbank, an outskirt Tiv and Hausa community known for its hostility due to incessant cult activities.
The tension is a result of some Tiv and Hausa youths currently at war for reasons yet unknown.
According to witness reports gathered, a number of residents of the area are dead and several others are injured.
Some residents of the area said they have been trapped inside for hours and are afraid to go out.
The real cause of the fight is yet to be known but sources say there are sporadic gunshots in the troubled area.
A telephone call to the Spokesperson of Benue State Police command Catherine Anene was not taken at the time of this report.
