Spider-Man: No Way Home star Tom Holland has revealed how he pitched the idea of a young James Bond film to Sony but the project was never greenlit.
Since Daniel Craig's last outing as the British spy in No Time to Die, fans have continued to speculate on the next star to play the character, a role that Holland already envisioned as his own before now.
In a recent chat with Total Film magazine, the actor talked about his pitch to production company Sony, disclosing that the idea was an origin story where Bond would be a young man new to the world of espionage.
Daniel Craig as James Bond
“I had a meeting, after or during ‘Spider-Man 2’ [‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’], with Sony to pitch this idea of a young Bond film that I’d come up with", Holland stated.
“It was the origin story of James Bond. It didn’t really make sense. It didn’t work. It was the dream of a young kid, and I don’t think the Bond estate [was] particularly interested.”
According to reports, an official search for the next Bond will kick off in the latter part of this year and whoever the mantle falls on will definitely have some big shoes to fill.
