Top 10 Best TV Characters Of All Time

Top 10 Best TV Characters Of All Time

Though there have been countless characters who have made their mark in television historysome are just so memorable that we can't help but rank them above others

Throughout the history of television, there have been certain characters who have come to define the medium.

Even though everyone has their personal favourites from the shows they loved, we highlight the characters who rank the highest in our opinion.

Our ranking is in no particular order.

1. Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock)

Even though Sherlock Holmes has been a fictional character for well over a century, Benedict Cumberbatch and a contemporary interpretation gave the venerable detective new life.

'Sherlock' pictured Holmes as an eccentric investigator working in the present day.

While Sherlock's genius and distinct method of solving murders provided much of the show's humour, it was most intriguing to consider how such a figure would function in contemporary societal contexts.

It was exciting to see Sherlock recast as an outcast and unlikable hero.

2. Tony Soprano (The Sopranos)

Tony Soprano was a protagonist that fans had never seen before in 'The Sopranos', a television series that changed the course of television history.

As viewers watched him perpetrate a variety of atrocities, including killing a guy with his bare hands in an early episode, the show urged viewers to feel sympathy for this monster.

Tony, though, shows that, as long as their paths are captivating, viewers are willing to watch complicated and imperfect characters.

James Gandolfini's legendary performance played a significant role in Tony's rise to fame as a captivating television character.

3. Walter White (Breaking Bad)

While viewers were drawn in by a lead character like Tony Soprano who appeared to be evil, it was possibly even more fascinating to watch a good individual progressively become evil.

As Walter White continued down his disastrous path, 'Breaking Bad' provided one of the best character arcs in television history.

Walt started as a likeable guy, and it was difficult not to find some justification for his behaviour.

It became evident, though, that he was turning into a monster as his empire and ego increased, and it was impossible to turn away.

Fans were still hoping he wouldn't get caught despite doing such horrible things.

4. Arya Stark (Game of Thrones)

Few young television characters have had a journey as thrilling as Arya Stark's in 'Game of Thrones', even though viewers have watched many of them develop throughout a series.

Arya, who started the series as a little child seeking her place in the world, went on to become arguably the best warrior in Westeros.

Arya was always a badass heroine who fans were willing to root for, even when she was caught up in some unsatisfying plots.

5. Jack Bauer (24)

This is one of those rare characters who could never do anything boring.

You could watch him brush his teeth and it would be engaging. Not to mention the many fantastic lines he has and the crazy things he's capable of. Such a badass.

Jack Bauer almost dies like 20 times to save innocent lives and his country. If he were real he would probably be the greatest man alive.

6. Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory)

Sheldon Lee Cooper, PhD., Sc.D., is a fictional character in the CBS television series 'The Big Bang Theory' portrayed by actor Jim Parsons.

He is one of the most remarkable characters in television history and the funniest and most interesting on the show.

He's so awesome and funny. We only wished that he'd show some emotion at times. He's like an extremely funny robot with a great voice.

7. Tyrion Lannister (Game of Thrones)

Tyrion Lannister quickly became the most well-liked character on 'Game of Thrones' despite the show's large cast, which has numerous fan favourites.

Despite being an outcast in hostile environments, he managed to live because of his impressive intellect.

Some of the funniest and most moving statements in the entire episode were spoken by Tyrion.

While some viewers believe the character was mistreated at the show's conclusion, they couldn't forget the numerous seasons of entertainment Tyrion gave them.

8. Jesse Pinkman (Breaking Bad)

'
'Breaking Bad' was also about Jesse Pinkman demonstrating his goodness, even though Walter White's steady turn to the dark side was the show's main focus.

He provided hilarious comic relief early on in the series as a young, careless drug dealer. As the show went on, he showed that he had a very good heart.

In the end, viewers just wanted to see Jesse achieve a happy ending because he had also endured a lot of suffering throughout the entire series.

It was just another instance of Breaking Bad's genius in defying expectations with a character like this.

9. Bugs Bunny (Looney Tunes)

Since the beginning of television, cartoons have played a significant role and few cartoon characters are as well-known as Bugs Bunny.

As the face of the Looney Tunes, Bugs is one of the most hilarious figures in popular culture history and has been for many years.

In his universe, Bugs could do anything but it was the most entertaining to see him play tricks on his enemies.

He became adored as a surprisingly approachable laid-back hero who was always the brightest person in the room thanks to his confident and cunning iconic moments in cartoon history.

10. Homer Simpson (The Simpsons)

Homer Jay Simpson is the protagonist of the American animated television series 'The Simpsons' and the patriarch of the eponymous family.

There is no scene where Homer appears that isn't funny. He is humorous, a bit dramatic, and a bit weird at times, but who isn't?

As the famous cartoon character, the head of the comic and the Simpsons family, Homer gave us the perfect show.
