Tori Bowie: Olympic Medalist Dies At 32

Tori Bowie, the US sprinter who won three Olympic medals at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, has passed away at the age of 32.

Bowie’s death was confirmed on Wednesday by her management company and USA Track and Field, although the cause of death remains unknown.

“USATF is deeply saddened by the passing of Tori Bowie, a three-time Olympic medalist and two-time world champion,” USA Track and Field CEO Max Siegel said in a statement.

“A talented athlete, her impact on the sport is immeasurable, and she will be greatly missed.”

The three medals Bowie won at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio were gold in the 4x100m relay, silver in the 100 meters and bronze in the 200 meters.

Then at the 2017 world championships in London, she became a double world champion by winning the 100 meters and was again part of the victorious American 4x100m relay quartet.

Her last appearance on the world stage was in 2019 at the world championships in Doha, when she finished fourth in the long jump.
