Tottenham Confirm Bentancur Out For Rest Of Season With Knee

Rodrigo Bentancur will be unavailable for the remainder of the season, Tottenham confirmed in a social media post.

The 25-year-old midfielder suffered a serious knee injury following a nasty collision that led to him being substituted during the 4-1 defeat by Leicester City on Saturday.

A statement from Tottenham on Monday morning reads: "We can confirm that Rodrigo Bentancur has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out of action for the remainder of the campaign.

"He will undergo surgery before beginning his rehabilitation with our medical staff.

"We're all behind you, Rodrigo.

Bentacur joins Yves Bissouma and captain Hugo Lloris on the sidelines as the duo recently sustained injuries.

Reports suggest that the Urguayuan faces at least six months out and will now work to being fit for the start of next season the middle of August.

Spurs will have to rely on Pape Matar Sarr and Oliver Skipp as their only available central midfielders in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 clash with AC Milan on Tuesday.
