Toyin Abraham's 'Fate Of Alakada' Grosses Over N77 Million In Cinemas

Barely a month and days after it hit cinemas, Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham's blockbuster movie "Fate Of Alakada: The Party Planner" has grossed over N77 million in cinemas, beating records of her previous efforts.

AllNews reports that "Fate Of Alakada" which makes its fourth production in the popular ‘Alakada’ series, was initially scheduled to hit cinemas across Nigeria on April 10, but was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a lengthy Instagram post on Friday, November 6, Abraham revealed that her last effort, "The Ghost And The Tout" grossed N77 million, but "Fate of Alakada" has gone beyond that and she would be announcing the actual amount soon.

Describing this year as quite a dramatic and intense one with COVID-19 and other happenings, the mother of one said "the stipulated percentage of people allowed in the cinema, and other countless things that we cannot name, Fate of Alakada has been doing incredibly well at the cinema.

⁣"At a point, we faced some difficulties such as cinemas having no choice but to close down (for the protest's sake), and some top cinemas in Ilorin, Surulere, and Jakande, getting destroyed in the process by hoodlums. Still, God kept showing His mercies.⁣

The movie features stars like Davido, Mercy Lambo (BBNaija winner) Mabel Makun, Swanky Jerry, Stephanie Coker, among others.

The plot of the popular Alakada series follows the story of Yetunde Animashaun, a young girl from poor family background.

She engages in making up stories and lying about her financial and social status in order to “fit into with the crowd”.
