Tragedy In Ibadan As Gunmen Kill Two In Separate Incidents

Saheed Lawal, a forty-year-old Point Of Sales (POS) operator, has been shot dead over the weekend by some gunmen, at Bako community, near Omi-Adio, Ibadan.

Reports revealed that the deceased was shot at close range in his house on Friday evening after returning home from his shop and after observing the 7 p.m. prayer in the mosque.

Explaining the incident, the wife to the deceased sorrowfully recounted how Saheed had opened the door responding to earlier knocks only to be shot at point-blank range by one of the men.

She added that he was never asked anything before he was gunned down as she had unknowingly handed over the money they requested to them while pleading that they should not kill her husband.

It was gathered that the attackers, who were three in number, came in a motorcycle to the area for the operation.

One of the attackers had knocked on the deceased entrance door, and immediately the door was opened, he shot the victim on the chest at point-blank range.

Eyewitnesses also revealed that the other armed man, shot sporadically into the air to scare people away from the building.

Unfortunately, efforts by members of the community to apprehend the gunmen proved fruitless after they fled the scene on a motorcycle.

The incident has since been reported at Omi Police Station.

In another sad development, tragedy struck in the early hours of yesterday, as gunmen killed a commercial motorcyclist in the Akinyele local council area of Oyo state.

The incident was reported to have happened at Labi Junction, Express Area, along the Oyo-Ibadan Expressway.

Sources said the gunmen shot the rider and took away his motorcycle.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Adewale Osifeso has said that updates would be provided as investigation into the developments progresses.
