Stampede At El Salvador Stadium Leaves 12 Dead

At least 12 people have tragically lost their lives in an apparent crush at a stadium in El Salvador.

The National Civil Police (PNC) Director, Mauricio Arriaza, on Sunday confirmed the preliminary death toll, with nine victims present at the stadium and three more in different hospital centers.

The devastating incident has plunged the Salvadoran soccer community into mourning.

The tragedy unfolded due to overcrowding and limited access points at the stadium.

With only two gates open for entry, a crush of fans amassed outside, attempting to force their way in.

This resulted in a chaotic situation where people fell upon each other, leading to the loss of lives.

El Salvador's Interior Minister, Juan Carlos Bidegain, stated that the civil protection service's first responders were present at the scene and attending to those affected by the incident.

The match was suspended, and emergency personnel promptly evacuated individuals from the stadium.
