No fewer than nine people lost their lives while eleven survived with injuries in an accident resulting from brake failure of a trailer on Wednesday night in Gombe.
AllNews Nigeria gathered that the trailer was loaded with gallons of vegetable oil.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Gombe state that nine persons had died while 11 sustained different degrees of injuries.
The Gombe State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Felix Theman confirmed that the accident occurred at the Bomala Junction along the state Southern Bye-pass at about 8pm.
He revealed that the total number of people involved in the accident was 20.
The victims wer rushed to the Gombe Specialist Hospital and the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for proper medical attention.
While noting that no driver should exceed the speed limit of 40 kilometer per hour in the metropolis, the Commander cautioned drivers against over speeding.
