Transfer Latest: Update On Pogba-PSG Reports

Transfer Latest: Update On Pogba-PSG Reports

Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are still some way apart on Paul Pogba negotiations.

According to the Mirror, Pogba might end up staying at Manchester United this summer, but PSG are hoping to use their relationship with the player’s agent (Mino Raiola) to acquire the player.

Pogba, who is in the final year of his contract, has refused a contract extension at the club, courtesy of which PSG are trying to sign the 28-year-old this summer. However, the clubs are ‘far-off’ on the valuation of the player.

According to Le Parisien, United are currently demanding a fee north of £63million, even though they would prefer something in the range of £85million for the Frenchman. PSG do not want to go anywhere near this figure, with the Parisians ready to pay around £50million for the world cup winner.

However, PSG would be aware that Real Madrid are long-term admirers of the player, and if the Frenchman becomes available on a free transfer next summer, they would try to sign him.

In a piece of related news, PSG forward Kylian Mbappe will reportedly stay with the French giants for the 2021-22 season, according to French outlet Le Parisien (via MARCA).

The 22-year-old has reportedly lowered tensions between himself and PSG and is willing to play out the rest of his contract with the club, which is set to expire in 2022. PSG risks losing Mbappe on a free transfer if he does not decide to re-up his contract by the end of the coming season.

Marca’s article included a particularly glaring commentary from Le Parisien on Mbappe’s situation moving forward.

“For all of those who haven’t understood, or don’t seem to understand, particularly in Spain, Mbappe will stay at PSG this year, as this newspaper [Le Parisien] revealed on July 1.”
