The Red Devils are expected to move for another proven frontman next summer, when Edinson Cavani's latest contract expires, and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is willing to explore the option of luring a World Cup winner away from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) as a free agent.
Speaking in June, Mbappe admitted he was unsure about his PSG future.
“I need to take the right decision, which is hard, and give myself the best opportunity to decide well,” said the 22-year-old.
“I am somewhere where I’m happy, I feel good.
“But is it the best place for me? I don’t yet have an answer.”
PSG want to keep Mbappe but, due to his contract situation, will be powerless to prevent him from leaving on a free transfer next summer.
