Tribal Attacks: Why I Won't Call For MC Oluomo's Arrest — Lagos Deputy Governor

Tribal Attacks: Why I Won't Call For MC Oluomo's Arrest —

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has stated why he will not call for MC Oluomo's arrest following the attacks on Igbos during the Lagos guber election.

A viral video of MC Oluomo warning people from the southeastern part of the country to stay at home during the March 18 election sparked outrage and many are holding him responsible for the subsequent mayhem in the region when citizens went out to cast their votes.

Addressing the issue of calling for MC Oluomo's arrest Hamzat disclosed that he will do no such thing as he is neither a police officer nor a prosecutor.

Speaking on Channels TV's Daily on Tuesday, the deputy governor added that it is the evidence that will be scrutinised.

MC Oluomo

Hamzat said that MC Oluomo defended himself by clarifying that he was actually referring to a woman, Mama Chinedu.

According to him, MC Oluomo's defence is backed by a video in which the woman in question is seen saying the former was actually referring to her and that they are friends.

“I’m not calling for the arrest of anybody. I’m not a police officer; I’m not a prosecutor. People will look at the evidence.

“In the case of MC Oluomo, he has come out to say that he was actually referring to one woman that is Mama Chinedu or something like that.

“There’s a video that shows that and that woman said, ‘He was talking to me and we’ve been friends or he’s been my customer for years.

“[She said] that he was talking to her.

“So, I don’t know the facts, but people should examine the facts and if in truth he has broken the law, of course, he must pay for it. It’s as simple as ABC.”
