Troops of Operation Forest Sanity have recovered items supposedly to be used in manufacturing Improvised Explosive Devices, IED.
The items were recovered during the clearing of a notorious bandit Lawal Kwalba's hideout in Rafin Dawa area of Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement issued on Thursday in Kaduna revealed that 27 bags of fertiliser for possible production of IEDs were recovered.
“The troops cleared the camp of a notorious bandit, Lawal Kwalba, in Rafin Dawa in the Dende general area of Chikun Local Government Area.
“According to the operational feedback, the troops of Operation Forest Sanity conducted a patrol to the location following actionable intelligence,’’ he stated.
He explained that the troops also recovered batteries from the bandit’s hideout.
“These materials indicate likely plans to manufacture Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) considering the bandit’s close alliance with terrorists,’’ he stated.
Other items recovered include one motorcycle and two mobile phones.
“Troops extended the search a short distance from the camp and made some arrests. Investigations are on-going on the intercepted suspects", said Aruwan.
He expressed the state government's satisfaction over the recent sustain gains in the onslaught of terror in the state.
