Troops Kill 6 ISWAP Terrorists, Recover Weapons

The Nigerian Army says it has killed 6 terrorists of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Nigeria's North East.

The troops of the ongoing Operation Hadin Kai recovered arms and ammunitions during the fight.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu on Thursday.

Nwachukwu said on 31st August, troops of the 25 Brigade eliminated four ISWAP terrorists.

He stated that the terrorists ran into the troops while spying along Damboa-Bulabulin- Maiduguri road, and met their waterloo at Kukawa.

He added that arms and ammunition recovered include four AK 47 rifles, and four Magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

The other two terrorists were eliminated by troops of 195 Battalion, Sector 1 OPHK and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) at Dusman-Muna Garage in Borno State, he added.

In this separate operation, the troops recovered 'two bags of Indiam Hemp (Cannabis Sativa), two bags of detergent,120 packets of mosquito coils, 12 mosquito nets and five textile materials, two bycicles, two bags of beans, a bag of corn and some quantity of fish," read the statement.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya commended the troops and called for continuous fire to fish out terrorist from their hideouts.
