Troops Rescue 10 Victims Of Kaduna Airport Abduction

Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued the ten persons who were abducted by bandits from the Kaduna International Airport’s staff quarters two weeks ago.

The victims were kidnapped by bandits from the junior staff quarters of the airport at Ifira village in Igabi Local Government Area on March 6, and were taken to an unknown destination.

The release of the victims was confirmed at a news conference on Wednesday where the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, said that they were rescued on Wednesday by the troops.

The commissioner also said that the victims were taken to the hospital after their release for medical attention. He said they will be reunited with their family after the medical attention.

Aruwan maintained that the precise details of the rescued locations cannot be disclosed at this time because of operational expediency.

In another news, the convoy of the Emir of Birnin Gwari in Kaduna state, Alhaji Zubairu Maigwari, was reportedly attacked on Monday.

A statement by Aruwan disclosed that the official vehicle of the Emir was shot by bandits at about 4:30am on Monday around the Zonkoro axis of the Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road, within Chikun local government area.

The commissioner said only the Emir’s driver and his orderly, who is a police inspector, were in the vehicle, they were on their way to Kaduna when the incident occurred.

He further disclosed that no life was lost.
