After receiving a series of backlashes, United States president, Donald Trump, says his suggestion on the use of disinfectants to clean up lungs against coronavirus was mere 'sarcasm'.
Allnews understands that Trump had suggested disinfectant as measures to fight coronavirus, but experts warned against it on claims that it is dangerous to human health.
Speaking during coronavirus briefing at the White House on Thursday, the president said “Supposing we hit the body with a tremendous — whether it’s ultraviolet or just very powerful light,” the US president said.
“And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute — one minute,” he said, before asking: “Is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside, or almost a cleaning?
“Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it would be interesting to check that.”
Medical practitioners and American citizens kicked against the decision, while also criticising the presidents.
However, during a bill signing in the Oval Office to expand upon this on Friday, Trump claimed he joked about his suggestion, so as to see reactions.
“I was asking a question sarcastically to reporters like you just to see what would happen,” he said.
