Turkey: Nine Foreigners Detained Over Daesh Terrorism Links

Nine foreign nationals were arrested in an operation against the Daesh terrorist group in Ankara, according to a security source on Thursday.

The suspects were caught in operations across the capital by counterterrorism and intelligence forces.

Turkey has been working on unearthing Daesh plots and apprehending possible suspects.

Since the start of 2023, Turkish police arrested over 35 foreigners working for the terrorist group across various provinces.

In late March, Ankara police also detained 19 foreign nationals who had allegedly been in contact with Daesh terrorists in conflict zones.

Earlier in the year, police had apprehended another Daesh terrorist preparing for an attack in Istanbul.

In 2013, Turkey became one of the first countries to declare Daesh, a terrorist group. However, the country has since been attacked by Daesh multiple times.
