Turkey will continue its efforts toward visa liberalization and negotiations with the European Union (EU).

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu disclosed this, indicating that the EU must be sincere in its approach toward Turkey.

A migration deal was signed on March 18, 2016, with the EU.

Turkey has long complained that while it upheld its end of the deal, the EU did not keep its pledges, including on visa liberalization.

"There is a serious power-sharing pursuit in the world. New powers are emerging because of multilateralism and the inadequacy of the system.

"Turkey should be in a very solid place in this power sharing," he said.

"We are now focused on the steps to take with the aim to revive relationships. We are making preparations for the meeting of the leaders."

He also listed Turkey's African policy and ties with Latin American countries as other priority areas in Turkey's foreign policy.

On his meeting with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, he said it was a good one.

Çavuşoğlu said a meeting between Turkey and Egypt's presidents is expected to be held following Turkey's May 14 elections.
