Turkish, Greek Officials To Meet Over Severed Ties

Turkish and Greek officials will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Turkey's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry said deputy foreign ministers of Turkey and Greece, Ambassador Burak Akçapar and Konstantinos Fragkogiannis, respectively, will meet.

It said; "This will be the fourth meeting at the level of deputy ministers on the Positive Agenda initiative which was initially agreed upon between Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Nikos Dendias in Ankara, in April 2021.

"The two officials plan to review the progress on the Joint Action Plan, which aims to develop bilateral relations on trade, economy, energy, transport, education, health and environment as well as societal relations."

It added; "Consultations are also foreseen on new cooperation areas that can be included in the process."

Officials on both sides have been hailing a positive atmosphere taking over bilateral relations between the countries since the earthquake in Turkey.

With support and aids from Greece being pivotal to the development.
