Twelve Illegal Miners Nabbed In Ogun State

Ogun So-Safe Corps

Operatives of Ogun State Community Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) have arrested twelve illegal miners.

The miners were arrested between Wednesday, September 28 and Friday, September 30, 2022, for operating illegally in the state and stealing the state government's resources.

This was made known in a statement by So-Safe State Commander Soji Ganzallo and signed by Moruf Yusuf, Director of Information and Public Relations.

The statement revealed that the twelve suspected illegal miners were arrested at Abeku Adekanmbi Village in Ijebu North Local Government Area while stealing mineral resources like coal and gold from under the ground.

While noting that there was no need for delay in their case, Ganzallo disclosed that he had issued instructions to his officers to forward a report of their preliminary investigation to the State Headquarters of the Corps.

He also ordered that other accomplices who escaped be brought to book.

The arrested suspects have been transferred to the Nigeria Police, Ijebu Igbo Divisional Headquarters for onward transfer to the Ogun State Police Headquarter in Eleweran for further investigation and likely prosecution.
