Twitter Permanently Suspends Trump's Account

Donald Trump suspended permanently from Twitter

Popular social media platform, Twitter has again suspended President Donald Trump's account. This time permanently.

The suspension, Friday, is coming barely 24 hours after he was suspended and allowed back for the first time.

The company said the action was taken due to the risk of violence.

Twitter along with Facebook and Snapchat had all blocked the outgoing United States president after he incited his followers -- through videos and posts shared via the platforms -- to storm the Congress and disrupt the confirmation of president-elect Joe Biden's mandate.

Trump supporters breached the Capitol Hill Congress seat, four people dying in the process.

The social media platforms suspended his account to forestall further chaos in the U.S.

The Washington Post had reported on Friday that hundreds of Twitter employees wrote a letter to the company's chief executive officer, Jack Dorsey, demanding Trump's permanent removal from the app.

The employees demanded a clear account of the company's decision making process regarding the president's tweet the day the Capitol Hill was breached, the newspaper reported.

They also asked for a probe into the past several years of corporate actions that led to Twitter’s role in the insurrection.

The app had been one of Trump's major communication platforms since he became the 45th US president. After the 2020 elections in which he was defeated, Twitter had been forced to censor some of Trump's tweets, labelling them as inaccurate information.
