Twitter Users Call For Arrest Of Lady Who Raised False Kidnap, Rape Alarm

Twitter Users Call For Arrest Of Lady Who Raised False Kidna

Nigerian Twitter users are calling for the arrest and prosecution of a lady identified as Toyosi after she raised a false alarm of being kidnapped and raped for clout-chasing.

On Thursday morning, Toyosi on her Twitter handle @_misteriouss, claimed that she was being kidnapped and raped at number 78 Obayan Street, Pako, Akoka, Lagos, and needed help desperately.

She also dropped the phone number of her alleged kidnapper and abuser.

To avoid a repeat of the case of late Dr. Chinelo, the lady who was mocked after she tweeted about being shot on the Abuja-Kaduna train, Twitter users alerted the police and they were swift to deploy men of the force to the address.

It, however, turned out to be a false alarm.

Toyosi herself confirmed in a tweet and a video that her distress call was in fact, fake.

"I tweeted earlier that I was kidnapped and raped.

"It's false. I'm so sorry for this. Please stop calling and threatening the numbers," she tweeted.

Twitter users waited to be sure she didn't tweet out of distress before calling for her arrest for misleading the public with a sensitive matter like rape.

Enraged netizens added that the young lady should be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to try such in the future.
