Two Confirmed Dead As Explosion Rocks Imo Community

At least two people were confirmed dead on Wednesday as a heavy explosion rocked the Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State.

It was reported that the explosion was from an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that was planted some blocks away from Addax Oil Company in Izombe.

Police spokesperson in Imo state, Michael Abattam, confirmed the incident, saying investigation is currently ongoing.

He said that operatives from the anti-bomb squad in the command have been deployed to the scene to avoid a reoccurrence even as investigation has commenced.

This is coming few weeks after 110 persons were killed during an unexplainable explosion at an Abaezi illegal refinery in the Ohaji-Egbema local government area of the State.
