Two Dead, Five Injured In Anambra Auto Crash 

The Anambra Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has confirmed the death of two persons while five others were injured in a road mishap in the state.

In a statement by the state Public Education Officer, Margaret Onabe said the incident happened beside the Police CID annex by Onitsha-Awka expressway.

Onabe further disclosed that the incident involved a Hiace bus which rammed into a stationary truck at about 8:45 pm on Sunday.

“The unidentified driver of a MAN truck with registration: FKJ22XJ number and a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number: GDD68ZP was involved in a fatal road traffic crash today 14th August, 2022 at about 20:45hrs.

“Probable cause of the crash was Road Obstruction and excessive speed

"The truck developed fault and was abandoned by the truck driver after placing caution sign at the front and rear. The bus driver was on speed and rammed into the truck from the rear and crashed.

“12 people comprising 8 male adults and 4 female adults were involved in the crash. 5 people comprising 3 male adults and 2 female adults sustained varying degree of injuries. 2 male adults were killed.

“FRSC first responders from RS5.33 Nteje Unit Command took the injured victims to a yet-to-be-confirmed hospital, while the dead victims were taken to New Word mortuary Nteje.

“The Sector Commander Anambra State Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi commiserates with the families of the dead victims and wishes the injured victims quick recovery.

“He seriously warned motorist to desist from speeding and ensure they keep to recommend speed limit.”
